Quick update:

Today I added ability for player to hide in barrels. It can be usefull, if player stuck in a dead end and enemy is coming this way.

Boy, you have to carry that weight!

Today I've added ability for player to carry bodies of dead enemies. There are some minor bugs, but in general it already looks as expected. 





Didn't think out yet what to do, if player dies while carrying the body. I don't use ragdolls, so player will play animation but dead-enemy will just fly at the place. It looks like there will be additional synced death animation for both player and body he carrying.

The first post about my game



What is this about?

Hey there!

This is the first post in this blog, YOUHOO!

It will be the developement blog of a stealth game for mobile platforms (IOS and Android). Project doesn't have a name yet, so for now I gonna call it just a "ninja stealh" game. Because it will be a stealth game and.. well, it will be about ninjas (surprise!).

A short word about "Why". 

Recently I was trying to find some decent stealth games on mobiles, and guess what I found. Don'tget me wrong, there are some really great games, like "Hitman GO", "Stealth Inc". "Stealth" by Nicolas Liatti is one of my favorites. 

Beeing said i really liked those games, for me they didn't give the feeling of stealth we can find on "big" platforms. So I decided to make my own:)


10 facts about the game.

1. It will be about ninjas. But game is not about the middle-age Japan. When I say "ninja" what I really mean  is "silent assassins that are moving in a shadow and kill from behind". The point is, I don't really know much about Japan, so I don't want the game to be historical incorrect or insulting for people how are familiar with Japan culture. So the "ninjas" is the general image, but not the actual ninja.

2. The game will be a stealth-centric (surprise again!). Player won't be able to just slash trough enemies like a tornado. He will need to hide and avoid large groups of enemies. Most enjoyable way to play will be the silent walktrough.

3. Enemies will be able to "see" the player and also "hear" him.

4. In addition to melee weapon (the sword) player will have items for range attacks. For now I'm sure about throwable knives (shurikens) and smoke bombs. But there can be others later. Blowing pipe as an example.

5. Of course, there will be ability to kill silently. Player will be able to attack enemies in open battle also, although it wont be the easiest way to kill.

6. We will be able to drag and hide bodies.

7. Player will be able to hide in bushes, shadows and also use environmental objects, like barrels, boxes.

8. Player will have the ability to distract enemies by whistlening/shouting or throwing rocks near them.

9. It will be 3rd person view. For the last 8 years i was working as an 3d character animator,  so I'm very excited to animate all those silent kills and combat moves. And think it will look best from 3rd person view camera.

10. I develop the game using Unity game engine.

What has been done already?







For now game is in the very early stage. All the meshes, textures and animations are drafts. It means they were made for playtesting purposes only and will be replaced with higher-quality ones when the time will come.

As for player's character, I mplemented movements, attacks, silent kills, ability to throw rocks to distract enemies.

Enemis have basic AI: thay can patrol, chase and attack player, while avoiding obstacles. Also they react on "noise" made by player.

How can you help?

I'm doing pretty good with programming part so far, same goes for animations. But I feel a lack of talent when it comes to a 2D artwork (concept art for characters and the environment). Also I would appreciate any help with working on storyline and the setting in general.
